Toy Products
Horizon is proud to introduce the H2Go, powered by Horizon and marketed by Popco International, a 60 year old toy car company originally from the UK. Following Horizon’s strategy to start small, Popco is the first company to adopt fuel cell technology into a consumer product to be sold internationally through toy retail channels starting this year.
The H2Go follows on Horizon’s initial educational miniature scale car development named the H-racer, but the H2Go enters the realm of real toy cars. Several innovations now add more fun and playability to make the H2Go an exciting toy car of the future. Unlike the H-racer, the H2Go has full steering control and miniaturizes a “plug-in hybrid” concept, whereby a fuel cell system is balanced with a super-capacitor through an on-board power management system. This concept is now taking shape in real automobiles of the future, Horizon made it real on a small scale. The power needed by the H2Go to run is generated from just sunlight and water. Its propulsion does not use batteries, and represents a first entry of fuel cells into the commercial world on a large scale.
The futuristic H2Go was designed by Professor Luigi Colani, a design icon in Europe famous for his futuristic objects and car designs since the 1950s, including creations for Ferrari and Volkswagen. The remote control car comes with a refueling station that enables immediate charging via a small action pump. While the car is running, the refueling station prepares itself for its next charge, meaning non-stop play time and elimination of battery charging time for RC toy cars. The hydrogen refueling station can also be offered with a solar cell, to demonstrate renewable hydrogen storage technology for future generations.

The H2Go was introduced to the general public in February 2008, at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, where it was awarded the prestigious “Toy Innovation of 2008”, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Bavaria and the Mayor of Nuremberg. The creation of the H2Go was the result of an international collaboration between three companies including Horizon, Popco, and Wah Shing Toys, one of the leading tech-toy innovators and manufacturers in the world. Horizon is proud to have achieved one of its first major commercialization milestones by launching its concepts and innovative technologies into the real world with established market participants. Today, Horizon is moving forward into higher power application markets with valuable experience in mass production for small fuel cells, and as a result expects to be the first company in the world to ship 1 million fuel cells. |
