George Gu      Chairman

Prior to founding Horizon, George Gu was leading Eastman Chemical Company’s venture capital activity in mainland China. He participated in over 20 venture investments made by Eastman Ventures, with a focus on Asia-Pacific. His roles included VP Business Development for Asia Biznet, and interim CEO for Jinqiao eCommerce. George also led Eastman’s Asian Business Development team in developing advanced material opportunities, with a specific focus on clean energy. George also has experience in marketing, channel development and business planning with Canon Inc and Eastman Kodak. George holds an MBA from University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and a B.S. in Finance from Fudan University. 

Craig Knight      Executive Director

Craig Knight is a founding shareholder of Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies. With a diverse industrial background, Craig has 20 years extensive working experience in International Sales & Marketing and Business Management roles. Aside from his involvement with Horizon, Craig has launched two other international businesses after 15 years working in large multinational companies. He and his family lived for seven years in Singapore and China. Craig now resides in Sydney, Australia, with his wife and three children. He promotes sustainability and a healthy outdoor lifestyle, enjoying surfing, snowboarding, sailing, and the great outdoors. Craig holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sydney (Australia) and a Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Taras Wankewycz     Executive Director

Taras has over 15 years experience in business development, corporate venture capital and marketing consulting in France, Netherlands, UK and US. Taras also worked at Eastman Chemical, where he was developing new venturing opportunities within the Cleantech sector, with a focus on the EMEA region. Earlier in his career, he developed business across Europe for Frost & Sullivan’s Chemical practice as well as for Halogen Arkwright, a Scandinavian consulting firm. At Horizon, Taras was instrumental in the company’s fundraising, driving its distinct product designs, as well as international PR & marketing capability. Since February 2011, Taras took charge of Horizon's new venture focusing on high energy density fuel cell systems for aerospace/defense applications (Horizon Energy Systems in Singapore)

Fergie May     Non-Executive Director

Fergie worked for BlackRock (previously Merrill Lynch Investment Managers) for seven years. As deputy fund manager for the Asian Dragon Fund he oversaw US$1.7bn in assets as the team’s China specialist, and managed the US$70m Asian Small Cap portfolios which significantly outperformed their benchmarks during his tenure. He spent three years seconded to the Bank of China in Shanghai where he was deputy fund manager for the US$300m China Opportunities Fund, and helped launch China’s first sustainable investment fund, which reached US$1.9bn. While at the Bank of China he focused on the domestic Energy, Basic Materials and Infrastructure industries, in particular China’s nascent Renewable Energy sector. He has made a number of unquoted investments in the clean energy and communications sectors. Fergie holds an MA from Edinburgh University in Mandarin with Japanese.

Ted Swindells     Non-Executive Director

Mr. Theodore Swindells serves as the Head of Corporate Advisory and Private Equity practice at European American Securities Inc. Mr. Swindells serves as Senior Managing Director at TerraNova Capital Partners, Inc and served as Senior Managing Director at TerraNova Capital Management, LLC. He serves as Chairman of European American Equities Ltd. He serves as Chairman of the Board at LIFE Power & Fuels, LLC. Mr. Swindells has over 25 years experience within investment banking, venture capital and corporate finance sectors. He concentrates on the financing of emerging telecommunications and technology businesses. Mr. Swindells was a Founding Partner of Maroon Bells Capital Partners for ten years, managing numerous private equity investments. His previous experience includes corporate finance and venture capital positions within Drexel Burnham Lambert, Rubicon Ventures, Hambrecht & Quist, Woodman, Kirkpatrick & Gilbreath, Maroon Bell Ventures and Bank of America. Mr. Swindells holds a BA in Economics from Claremont Men's College and an M.B.A. in Finance, from Kellogg School of Management.

Viktor Meng     Non-Executive Director

Prior to co-founding bScope, Mr. Meng prepared, initiated, and facilitated the entry of Porsche Holding, Europe's largest automobile distribution & retailing company, into the rapidly growing Chinese market. He is also the Chairman and legal representative of Bisigao Ltd, a retail company based in Shanghai, which introduced the UK based watch & accessories brand STORM to the China market. He helped Haarmann Hemmelrath, Germany's fourth largest law, auditing & consulting firm, establish a management consulting practice in China and advised clients on China market entry strategy, due diligence, partnership search & negotiation, and IP & fraud protection. Previously, Mr. Meng worked as a consultant at United Management Technologies in New York and London advising on corporate efficiency and alignment. Viktor Meng holds a BS summa cum laude in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a MSc.Management from the London School of Economics. He is a native speaker of German, and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese

Mike Clarke    Non-Executive Director

Mike Clarke is an entrepreneur with a successful record of building businesses. He has both strategic board level and hands on experience running smaller quoted and medium sized private companies.  This has included both private and public funding.  As manufacturing operations director of Sintrom Plc, he assisted the Company in achieving a full listing on the LSE.  Mike subsequently raised VC capital to lead a successful buy out of the computer peripheral manufacturing operations and later following a sale of the business he went on to lead another management buy-in supported by 3i plc. In 2002 as technical director Mike co-founded Voller Energy Limited and took it to an Aim listing on LSE in 2006.  A thorough engineering training in avionic and military equipment engineering has provided him with a broad technology background which today encompasses electronics, mechanics and systems engineering.
