1st & 2nd place at SHELL ECOMARATHON ASIA 2014 - powered by HORIZON XP FUEL CELLLS!
Feb 10, 2014 - MANILA - The UITM team from Malaysia achieved 1st place in both Urban Concept and Prototype vehicle categories at the Shell Ecomarathon Asia - which took place for the first time in the Phillipines just a couple of days ago. The second place was also powered by Horizon's fuel cells. This is another great tribute to the Horizon XP line of fuel cells that are so far unbeatable in Asia, for the fourth year in a row and ever since the SHELL ECOMARATHON started in Asia. This event was not a typical race where five or more cars would start at the same time, but rather a competition among the top universities all over Asia to test the capabilities of the engineering students in building an efficient automobile using a set amount of stored energy, required to pass the SHELL's safety stands.
The Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2014 was held in partnership with the Phillippines Department of Tourism, Department of Energy and the City of Manila. Its global partners include Hewlett-Packard (Official Global Information Technology Partner), Michelin (Official tire supplier and global paddock partner), the Linde Group (Official Global Paddock partner) and Southwest Research Institute. Local private sector partners include Solane, Coca-Cola, Globe, Lego, Hyundai and Unilever Philippines.
