Distributed Power Plant - Backup Power

Distributed Power Plant - Backup Power

  • The project employs an integrated hydrogen production and power generation system. It converts excess wind power from the island into hydrogen through water electrolysis and then transforms the hydrogen back into electricity using fuel cells. This approach can address peak electricity demands and emergency power needs during critical maintenance on the island. The high-purity hydrogen produced as a by-product can be utilized for aquaculture on the island, and the waste heat generated during power generation can be used to provide hot water for local guesthouses and hotels.

  • The project uses a 100kW rated combined heat and power (CHP) system with a peak power of 150kW. The system's high heat value (HHV) power generation efficiency is ≥ 44%, and the CHP HHV efficiency is 81%.

  • The project is expected to consume 365,000 kWh of excess wind power from the island annually, produce 73,000 standard cubic meters of hydrogen, generate approximately 100,000 kWh of electricity, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 73 tons.

  • The system enables off-grid self-starting, integrates an HMI, and supports remote operation.
